THR has all but confirmed that “Shazam!” will be the next movie greenlit for DC Films. Production will likely start January of 2018 with David Sandberg (“Lights Out,” “Annabelle: Creation“) helming as director. A good choice, he really did a wonderful job with a slim budget on "Lights Out." There has always been the long rumored release date of April 5, 2019 for the film so it seems like that might be a possibility. Up next for DC films is “Suicide Squad 2,” shooting mid 2018, and “The Flash” which currently has no director, but what I'm really looking forward to is Joss Whedon‘s “Batgirl,” which was revealed to be a passion project o his for years and to which he convinced DC he was the man for the job
