Here's an interesting study conducted by Vox and based on Metacritic scores, although I would have done it via Rotten Tomatoes scores given that one or two highly negative reviews of any given film can be detrimental to an overall average Metascore.
What this study basically confirms is that John C. Reilly is one of the most versatile character actors that ever lived. Just look at all the films he's been in, great in all of them might I add: Magnolia, Boogie Nights, The Lobster, Guardians of the Galaxy, We Need to Talk About Kevin, Terri, Cyrus, Step Brothers, Walk Hard, Talladega Nights, The Aviator, The Hours, Chicago, Gangs of New York, The Good Girl, Hard Eight, The River Wild, Casualties of War, The Thin Red Line. An abundance of riches. Which is your favorite John C. Reilly performance?
