James L Brooks: Fox wants another 'The Simpsons' movie

"The Simpsons Movie" grossed over $500 million worldwide. The film felt like a feature-length episode from the golden-age of the series, that's around season 4-6. I really liked the film, so much so that it cracked my Top 30 in 2007, a year that some consider to be the greatest in movie history.  I never really thought there would be another film happening, but James L. Brooks spoke with LRM and was asked whether or not a second film might happen and it seems like Fox wants that.
Fox very much wants us to do another one, and maybe we will and maybe we won’t—that’s where it is,” Brooks explained. “How do we divide our labors, and do we believe in the idea we have? We may go into a more active exploration of a second movie soon.”

"The Simpsons" is still on television, almost 30 years on, even though the quality has gone down there is a rather large fanbase and there is no doubt Fox believes that another film will be successful. I haven't seen a new episode in years, but I very much look forward to another film especially if the older writers are involved. The 2007 movie had such stalwarts as James L Brooks, Matt Groening, Al Jean and Mike Scully among many others involved.
