Who Will Win-
The Avatar vs. Hurt Locker battle will go through the limit on Sunday & -to tell you the truth- it could go anyway but my gut feeling says the Academy is going for a special effects drive bonanza. Avatar will be crowned and Cameron will be king of the world all over again.

Who Should Win-
It's a toss up between The Hurt Locker and Up In The Air- both social studies of the hard times ahead in the States and both likely to -very sadly- stay relevant for the years to come.

Best Actor
Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart)
George Clooney (Up In The Air)
Morgan Freeman (Invictus)
Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker)
Colin Firth (A Single Man)

Who Will Win-
Bridges. It's a no brainer and very well deserved for an underrated actor that is finally getting the recognition he deserves from his peers.

Who Should Win-
Bridges, as the titular character that finds one last gasp at the healing power of music. Although Clooney and Renner were incredible and could have won any other year.

Best Actress
Meryl Streep (Julie & Julia)
Gabourey Sidibe (Precious)
Helen Mirren (The Last Station)
Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side)
Carey Mulligan (An Education)

Who Will Win-
Bullock. Because she's America's sweetheart and because her performance is so unrelevatory the old geezers of the Academy will give it to her just cause she's Sandra. Bunch of Bullocks that is.

Who Should Win-
Streep. For a transformative performance as Julia Child that will likely be remembered more than Bullock's decent but unmemorable portrayal of a goody republican mom.

Best Supporting Actor
Christopher Waltz (Inglourious Basterds)
Christopher Plummer (The Last Station)
Woody Harrelson (The Messenger)
Stanley Tucci (The Lovely Bones)
Matt Damon (Invictus)

Who Will Win-
Waltz. Incredible charismatic and downright silly as lieutenant colonel Hans Landa. He's almost a shoo in but just watch out for veteran Plummer who can sneak in just like that.

Who Should Win-
Stanley Tucci in Lovely Bones by Peter Jackson. A Scary performance that is the clear standout of an average movie. He defied the odds by going past the cliches that were written for his characters.

Best Supporting Actress
Mo'Nique (Precious)
Anna Kendrick (Up In The Air)
Vera Farmiga (Up In The Air)
Penelope Cruz (Nine)
Maggie Gyllenhaal (Crazy Heart)

Who Will Win-
Mo'Nique.

Who Should Win-
A toss up between Mo'Nique's monstrous mother in Precious and Vera Farmiga in Up In The Air. I'll go with Farmiga just because Mo'Nique is probably winning it.

Best Director
Quentin Tarantino (Inglourious Basterds)
Jason Reitman (Up In The Air)
Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker)
James Cameron (Avatar)
Lee Daniels (Precious)

Who Will -& Should- Win-
The closest category with Best Picture. Another Avatar vs Hurt Locker confrontation. Ex Vs Ex. Go with the female, Bigelow will triumph and rightfully so. becoming the first female director to ever win the directorial prize.
