Who Cares if Sean Baker …
I didn’t even want to put it on my title because this shouldn’t even matter. I’m 100% on Sean Baker’s corner here. He’s allowed to have whatever political beliefs he damn well pleases to have.
Yesterday, Baker “liked” a Tulsi Gabbard tweet about how the Rittenhouse Jury “got it right” by finding the 18-year-old shooter not guilty on all counts. Then darts started to be shot at Baker from all sides of the woke faction of film twitter.
All of a sudden, Baker had put himself in the bull ring, wearing all red, or so it seemed. Forget the fact that Baker made one of the best movies this year (“Red Rocket”) he was now persona non grata to these fans. Fuck ‘em.
Meanwhile, the same Twitter hounds are going after Paul Thomas Anderson for a five-second Asian stereotype joke that appears in “Licorice Pizza.” Not to mention the age gap between the two lovebirds in the film, he’s 15, she’s 25. And then you wonder why American movies just aren’t what they used to be. There’s a quota now on everything, a blacklist circling around for anyone and everyone who does not adhere to the purity standards of the “moral” progressive left. Fuck’ em, I say.
